3 Idiots book launch
 
Vinod Chopra films has set up a first of its kind film archive division committed to compiling and putting together screenplay books of films, not only produced by their own production house but also memorable Hindi film classics. Books on the screenplays of legendary filmmaker Guru Dutt’s films such as 'Kaagaz Ke Phool', 'Saheb Biwi Aur Ghulam' and 'Chaudaveen Ka Chand' will be the first to be published amongst the Indian cinema classics. The screenplay of Lage Raho Munna bhai was published last year while 3 Idiots: The Original Screenplay is the second book in this series. Both books were published by OM Books International. This book is not just the screenplay of the film but also a peek into the minds of its makers. It takes you right to the heart of the matter through rare interviews, exclusive behind- the- scenes photographs and insightful first person accounts unveiling the journey of the personal philosophy of its makers.
The book was launched by the cast and crew of 3 Idiots on the 7th of June 2010 in Mumbai.

Pritam to create tunes for ‘Ferrari Ki Sawaari’
 
Vinod is geared up for his new film ‘Ferrari Ki Sawaari’. The latest development is that music director Pritam has been given the responsibility to create music for the film.

Vinod heard one of the songs composed by the popular music director for Love Aaj Kal, after which he decided to meet Pritam to discuss the music for Ferrari Ki Sawaari. Pritam composed a few tunes that worked well with the film's theme and is said to be finalized as the music director.”

Rajesh Mapuskar, a longtime associate of Rajkumar Hirani, will direct the heartwarming tale of how the pursuit of an Indian cricket legend’s Ferrari makes a young boy’s dreams of playing cricket at Lords a reality. Vinod and Rajesh Mapuskar have co-written the script and Rajkumar Hirani will be working on the dialogues.

The film is currently in its stage of pre-production.
 
Vidhu Vinod’s ‘Broken Horses’ set to roll
 
Vinod and team Broken Horses have nearly wrapped up another trip to the US. In these whirlwind two weeks, Vinod met acclaimed Cinematographers, Costume Designers and Line Producers. He also made another trip to New Mexico with Production Designer, Jeannine Oppewall and Art Director, Nitin Desai to finalize all locations. As casting continues in Los Angeles in full swing, Vinod was locked up in reading sessions with actors along with the casting director, Randi Hiller and Executive Producer, Fred Roos.   For Vinod, who is known for his intensive pre production, this will be his last trip back to India, before the team is stationed in the US starting June till the end of principal photography.
 
BROKEN HORSES is casting
 
Vinod and team Broken Horses have just returned to India. Having worked on casting in Los Angeles with Casting Director, Randi Hiller and Consultant/Executive Producer, Fred Roos, Vinod flew to the south of New Mexico with his Production Designer Jeannine Oppewall and Art Director Nitin Desai. They locked various locations of the film that begins principal photography in September 2010.
Casting continues to be in full-swing in Los Angeles while Vinod works on the pre-production of Ferrari Ki Sawarri in Mumbai. He will be back in Los Angeles in mid-April to finalize the cast and crew of Broken Horses.

After scouting locations in New Mexico, Nitin Desai, India’s leading Production Designer/Art Director, is now in Los Angeles, working with the Production Designer of Broken Horses, Jeannine Oppewall. They are working round the clock, finalizing the complicated design for a ranch house in the middle of a lake.

3 Idiots rewrites Indian Cinema Box Office History
 
Grosses over Rs 100 crores ($22 mil) in 4 days Mumbai, 28 December: Reliance Big Pictures, which released Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s 3 Idiots in 2126 screens worldwide including 366 screens overseas-the widest release for any Indian film so far - has reported unprecedented box-office response from all over.

The film has set new records in ticket sales in towns and cities across the world. In just 4 days the film has grossed over an astounding Rs 100 crores ($22 mil) worldwide. The film continues to draw record crowds and is setting new benchmarks for Bollywood films.

The film chronicles the tale of three friends together in an engineering college. What seems to have touched the right chord in people's heart is the witty writing and terrific acting and the incisive look which the film takes at the education system in India. Shot on location the film has caught the audience's imagination like never before. From a small town like Wardha to a city like Chandigarh, from Mumbai to Delhi and from New York to Sydney theatres have reported record-breaking collections.

The film, which has also been critically acclaimed, has already begun attracting repeat audiences. Said a college student coming out of a suburban multiplex in Ahmedabad that she was coming back again tomorrow with her family to watch the film.

3 Idiots grosses $4.5 million in overseas; 12 more prints to be added in US
 
MUMBAI: DECEMBER 28, 2009: History is what 3 Idiots is making at the box office. While records are being broken in India, the movie has also done phenomenal business in the overseas market.

The movie, which is produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra and directed by Rajkumar Hirani, has grossed a whopping $4.5 million in the overseas in its opening weekend.

What’s more, with the demand for the movie going up, Vinod Chopra along with Reliance BIG Pictures has decided to add 12 more prints in the US market by Friday.

The opening weekend saw the movie grossing $2.14+ million in North America, $1 million in the UAE, $700,000 in the UK, $300,000 in Australia and New Zealand and $310,000 in the rest of the world.

Vinod Chopra is currently location scouting in New Mexico for his next directorial venture Broken Horses.The producer - director, along with his core creative team, covered approximately 2000 miles in just three days across the length and breadth of picturesque New Mexico.Vinod has been shuttling between Mumbai and LA for the last few months finalising the cast and crew for his ambitious Hollywood project.

A Salute to the Heroes of 26/11
 
Vinod Chopra and Aamir Khan were the guests of honor at "26/11" Mumbai Memorial Cup (1st Men's State Level Basketball Tournament) organized by the Mumbai Police to gather financial support for policemen who displayed commendable courage during the 26/11 terror attacks. In his brief and poignant speech, Vinod said "When I was leaving home to come here, my seven year old daughter said - Please tell the policemen of Mumbai that I feel safe and secure in my home because of them. . That thought echoes my sentiments and I am sure every Mumbai resident feels the same way." He saluted the police force for valiantly ensuring the safety of all.

Vinod Chopra Films & Reliance Big Entertainment Announce Major Production Partnership
 
CANNES 16th May, 2008: Vinod Chopra Films and Reliance BIG Entertainment have inked a multiple film production deal to co-produce feature films over the next three years. The first feature film under the production deal is a mainstream English language film, BROKEN HORSES, which will be directed by Vinod Chopra himself while the second film is based on the classic Indian tale, TALISMAAN, to be directed by Ram Madhvani.
